When you start to stutter..and your brain goes clueless...and no apt thought seems to flow to your lips to dampen the dryness before you...its time to do iman screening! What have you looked at, what have you said, what did your heart jolt about, to whom your smile was subconsciously thrown to, what sins were done...however small and insignificant to your judgement. What about the relationship..with Him? Have you been wandering in your solat or you didnt even care to answer his call for qiam at all? Ponder, and it will ring a bell...(huhuuu)
Remember the story about Mr Difficult Patient or so KR thought he was gonna be? He wasnt bad at all!! Alhamdulillah! KR just lovvvve dealing with muslims here in OZ..they DO treat you as your brother/sister, with some minor exceptions of course. He apparently was so glad that the one's treating him was a muslim. He even asked if there was any secret in KR getting a muslim patient (because KR's a muslim herself). Of course not, we didnt get to choose who we want the patients to be. It's random allocation. In the beginning, KR was struggling of how to build rapport with this pakcik considering the (suu) dzon predeterminely plastered about the pakcik in KR's head. Hihi..turned out to be so easy...see...he's originally from Lebanon...so...?? Talk about what's happening in Lebanon, and current muslim world situation lah you fool KR! Of course that broke the ice. KR opened one issue...and he went on elaborating about it. Asked how many kids he had, and he went on sampai his grandkids' stories, and his daughter's $600 000
new house. Guess why he was so angry with the hospital? He broke his lower denture some good 2months ago, and was expecting the problem to be fixed asap, for apparent reason, he couldnt eat solid food. Hish..sape pon boleh hilang sabar macam tu. And KR perfectly understands why. Show the empathy, and the patient would trust you.
That's one pleasant story. What's not pleasant is about KR's other (gp) patient. Grrr...he's surely is over the line. When KR is being friendly and all mesra alam, that doesnt mean she's happy to discuss her personal life with the patient. When the patient started the 'what if' conversation, KR knew he wasnt up to any good. "what if you wanna marry an australian" "im not gonna marry an australian" "what if you wanna marry an italian (when he himself was an italian)" "even worse..im not gonna consider italian". For God's sake! KR wasnt going to spill about her personal life on the dental chair! apekah? And KR wasnt ashame to sternly tell him to shut up. "stop talking and let me do my work". KR was struggling to scale clean his teeth, and he was struggling to bersembang. Once KR caught him fixing his eyes on her when she was washing her hands before popping the gloves on (which could take a couple of minutes to be done). (KR knows her friends sometimes told her that she's perasan that people are staring at her hehh) But this time it really was irritating. Occay, KR didnt know what he was thinking about, maybe about his life, or his car that was parked downstairs, or just simply trying to figure out what's gonna be with KR's future. Fair enough. But it is not KR to let men to stare at her (and be proud about it?). KR wears this tablecloth-like hijab and this unattratctive long, loose, baggy clothes (which protectively covers hehh)for reason. He obviously wasnt respecting KR. KR could only pray to Allah to preserve her chastity and pride."dont look at me like that" KR snapped the order. Yes. An order. He couldnt be more sorry. (oitt kalo demonstrator dengar confirm kene mark down) When KR declined the invitation for dinner, he brought it down to coffee, and at that point he surely was wayyy across the line! Nak tukar patient bole takkkkk. KR strictly didnt smile a twitch or looking at him unneccessarily after removing the face mask to schedule for another appointment...yessy messy..another appointment =(
How KR wished that she wasnt in that situation to be having to deal with people, especially men. How impossible. Yes, that's one of the reasons why some scholars dont advocate muslimah to work. KR seconds that! But now how leh? KR just have to go through this in order to complete the BDSc, and what comes after that is yet to be decided. Perhaps, open up a private practice specifically for women is surely an option..hehh... KR really really really loves this job, giving up is not on top of the list =(
